Campaign update
Arise activists campaign on a wide range of issues. The end of last year saw major UN and G20 climate change, biodiversity, plastic and tax negotiations that Arise members took action around. Two of these were successful (in part thanks to your efforts). On three others there is still further to go. Well done and thanks for all your efforts. Check out a recent blog, to find out more. Action Prayer Map
We love the action prayer map that the Arise local church group at St Saviour’s Sunbury have put up. Each month they gather new items for action and prayer on global issues of poverty, injustice and the environment. It’s a great visual idea that other Arise local church groups might want to take on. Happy Christmas
Arise’s usual weekly actions and blogs are taking a break this week for Christmas. We wish all the wonderful members of the Arise movement, and all people everywhere, a peaceful and blessed Christmas. The celebration of Jesus coming into our broken world to bring reconciliation, healing and restoration for all people and all creation is more relevant than ever in those tough times. We are excited to carry on this kingdom work with all of you in the New Year. (23 December 2024)
Networks and coalitions
Arise is currently in discussions about joining a number of coalition groups such as BOND, Crisis Action and the Climate Action Network that are advocating and calling for change on a range of issues that Arise also works closely on. One of the major findings in the Arise Manifesto is that those advocating for change achieve much greater results if they work together. Watch this space for more information soon on how Arise is working in partnership with other great organisations and networks. (16 December 2024)
Arise local church groups
More and more people are contacting us about setting up local Arise groups in churches across the country. They are a fantastic way to come together with others to pray, discuss, worship, learn, have fun and take action together to evangelise, disciple each other, fight social injustice, tackle poverty and restore the environment. Contact Arise if you would like to get involved in an Arise local group near you info@ariseuk.org (10 December 2024)
Arise Council of Reference
The Arise Council of Reference held its latest online meeting a few weeks ago. It’s an incredible group of people with huge faith, skill and experience who act as a wise sounding board and guidance. This time it looked at how we can grow the Arise movement more widely. It also considered how we help more people to volunteer and get involved with Arise. Guest blogs
Last week we were thrilled to have a guest blog from Neil Fix, a brilliant member of Arise’s Council of Reference, who looked at two things we can do to make our Christmas more ethical. This is the first in a series of guest blogs, where we will be hosting bloggers to write on the issues of evangelism, discipleship, social injustice, poverty and the environment that Arise is working on. Keep an eye on our blogs page to see more great guest blogs soon. (25 November 2024)
Youth resources
Arise is currently developing a series of Bible studies, discussion guides, actions and prayer resources for young people and youth groups. The resources will help young people encounter God and understand his call on their lives to bring holistic transformation to our world, through sharing their faith, growing in discipleship, tackling social injustice, ending poverty and restoring the environment. Watch this space for more news soon. (19 November 2024)
